Edward A. Woodward of West Chester
Edward A. Woodward, 73, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, April 18, 2016 with his family by his side. Woody was the only child of the late Lawrence and Helen (Robins) Woodward. He graduated from Kennett High School and Philadelphia University. Woody worked the majority of his career at Hercules as a tax accountant. Upon his formal retirement from Hercules, he operated his own tax practice and worked at Longwood Gardens. Woody was an avid reader, stamp collector and in his earlier years, loved to play tennis. He enjoyed gardening and nature in all aspects. He cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. Woody is survived by his children, Dave Woodward and his wife, Brooke, and Debbie Woodward-Sheme and her husband, Mark; and his grandchildren, MJ Sheme, DJ Woodward and Aiden Woodward. In addition to his parents, Woody was preceded in death in 2013 by his beloved wife, Rose. A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, April 22, 2016 at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, where family and friends may visit beginning at 12:00pm. Interment will follow in Union Hill Cemetery in Kennett Square, PA. In lieu of flowers, Woody’s family suggests making contributions to Kennett Square Missionary Baptist Church, 408 Bayard Road, Kennett Square, 19348.
